Jorge Caligiuri
...
|
| Abstraction created in non-traditional manner; the Jorge’s mixed media paintings are carved, scraped and sanded. Some times I think of my paintings as landscapes, but my focus is to provide vistas in which amorphous, ephemeral forms exist. The aggressive nature in which the paintings are created contradicting the richly subtle finished painting. Much of my work is about space, about movement from depth to surface. My works experiment with the partition of the space, repetition, geometry and color, using three dimensions, with different degrees of texture.
My work has allowed me to explore the variety of patterns created by nature in the micro and macrocosm using attraction and opposition, tension and release. Texture alludes to a passionate physicality while its simplicity in form reflects a cool logic, a balance inherent in all my pieces.” |

The Abstract Art of Richard Stickler
...
|
| I try to evoke the imagination by playing with ideas of nostalgia and rejuvenation. I may use sand within the paintings applying techniques that date back to the early Native Americans, such as in the Sharma's ritual paintings. Sand creates texture to my work but unlike the Native Americans in my case the sand is permanent. It gives the painting a raw organic feel that helps to produce excitement, and like the music I compose, each picture is an expression of intricate depth and mood. I look upon my paintings as if they were like individual music solos of the art world.
